Faraday finished ahead of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and William Caxton From The Telegraph:Michael Faraday, the scientist whose discoveries led to the development of the electric motor, has been hailed as the greatest inventor in British history, a survey revealed today. Faraday, who is credited with the harnessing of electric power, won a quarter of the vote in the poll of more than 1,200 people.
He was followed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel (13%), who designed the first propeller-driven steamship, and William Caxton (9%) who introduced the printing press to England.
